Hodan Hassan
Assistant Dean for Advancement for the College of Arts and Sciences
Stony Brook University
Hodan is the Assistant Dean of Advancement for the College of Arts and Science at the Stonybrook University. In this role, Hodan leads a fundraising team and their efforts for over 25 academic departments and ten centers across the College.
Before joining Stony Brook in April 2016, Hodan served as Associate Vice President of Program Funding for Save the Children. She has more than 25years of experience in leadership roles in advancement positions in public/private universities and humanitarian institutions such as the United Nations for Children's Fund (UNICEF, USA). Previously, Hodan held Prospect Development and other Advancement Services units at Arizona State University, the University of Washington, and Long Island University. She is a former APRA board member and a former president of APRA-NW. She is a speaker, regionally and nationally, with APRA, among others.
Hodan holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics, a master's degree(s) in applied mathematics, and math education from Long Island University in Brookville, New York. Hodan is pursuing a research and policy doctoral degree in sciences and technology with a focus on the intersection of emerging technologies and societal impacts at Stony Brook University.
Teri Brickey
Senior Manager for Individual Giving, Acquisition & Growth
National MS Society
Teri lives on the unceded land of the Osage and Kaskaskia people in the area we now call St. Louis, Missouri. She identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and lives with an invisible disability.
In her work, she is the Senior Manager for Individual Giving, Acquisition & Growth at the National MS Society. Her mission aligns with the Society’s: to widen and deepen inclusion to reach all people affected by MS, and to ultimately find a cure for MS. She is the current President of Apra MoKan.
Previously, Teri held roles in prospect management and prospect research at the Saint Louis Art Museum and Washington University in St. Louis. She has a degree in Philosophy and Political Science and worked in politics, hospitality, and massage therapy prior to starting in development.
Suzi Elzie-Tuttle, MLIS
Senior Prospect Analyst, Prospect Development, University Development and Alumni Relations
University of California, Berkeley
Suzi Elzie-Tuttle is a Senior Prospect Analyst at the University of California, Berkeley supporting the Berkeley School of Education, the Math & Physical Sciences Division, and the Biological Sciences Division. Prior to UC Berkeley, Suzi was a Senior Prospect Analyst at the California Institute of Technology. She is the current chair of Apra’s DEIBJA committee and has participated on the committee since 2020. Outside of development work, Suzi is a freelance writer who has had pieces published in traditional books as well as through online publications like Alta Journal. She is a longtime Contributing Editor for Book Riot, North America’s largest independent editorial website about books, as well as co-host of Book Riot’s All the Books! podcast. Suzi earned a B.A. in Creative Writing and Musical Theatre from the University of Southern California and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. She lives in Oakland, CA with her wife and a positively alarming amount of books.
